Saving Miles

Miles’ Comeback 🐾

When Miles first arrived at MRK9, he was nervous and unsure, keeping his distance, unsure if he could trust us. He’d been through a lot, and it showed.
But little by little, Miles began to open up. Now he’s letting us pet him, wagging his tail, and even coming over for attention on his own. He’s running around the yard, playing, and finally starting to enjoy just being a dog again.
Every day, Miles is becoming more social, more confident, and it’s been incredible to watch him bloom. His comeback story is just beginning and we’re so proud of how far he’s come. ❤️🐕

New day, new Miles

Little Wins with Miles 🐾💛

Every day with Miles brings new progress. He’s becoming more comfortable on a leash, and for the first time he barked! We haven’t seen a tail wag just yet, but we’re patiently waiting and celebrating every little step.
We’ve also learned a few fun, sweet things about him: he loves Betsy Stevens’ shoes, enjoys gentle pets on the head, and will happily curl up on a soft blanket. Thunderstorms, though, are still really scary for him.
We’re getting there, one gentle moment at a time 🥰🐾

Miles’ First Vet Visit 🐶🩺

Miles had his first appointment with Keysville Mobile Veterinary Services and did the best he could. He got a physical, his first distemper vaccine, his rabies shot, and a fecal test that came back negative for worms 👍 He also started flea and tick meds and was prescribed gabapentin 300mg capsules to help with anxiety.
He was too nervous to be weighed and spent most of the visit tucked in the corner, but he never acted out. He was scared, but sweet, and did so well for his first time. We’re proud of him for this big step forward! 💛🐾

Miles – A Journey Toward Rescue

MRK9 – Friends of KC

MRK9 Inc. is working in conjunction with Friends of KC with a German Shepherd, possibly mixed. He will be staying at MRK9 for the mandated 14 day quarantine. We scanned for a chip and received a visit from our vet. The Dogman will evaluate him and our hope is that he will be available for adoption when the quarantine is up. No other reliable information at this time until the dog has been seen by The Dogman. If you or anyone you know is interested in adopting him. Please reach out to us via our contact page or by clicking here.
Stay tuned for more details.

Miles(previously Jemary) as a pup, and now at MRK9!
March 9th, 2025

From a distance, you could barely see him. That was Miles (formerly Jemary), a scared and abandoned German Shepherd who had been surviving on his own for a very long time. This photo, taken from far away and zoomed in to take the picture, shows just how far gone he was from trusting people. 🐾📸
With the help of our friends at Friends of KC, MRK9 launched a rescue mission. It took time, patience, and a whole lot of heart, but we finally got him to safety. Slowly but surely, Miles is learning that he’s safe now, surrounded by people who care.
He’s got a long road ahead, but every step forward is a victory. From the shadows to sanctuary, Miles is finally home. 💙🌲

📅 March 12th, 2025 — Big day for Miles!

While in quarantine at MRK9 (standard procedure for all our rescue pups 🐾), Miles took a trip to Keysville Veterinary Clinic with the Dogman himself for a full check-up and to get all his up to date shots 💉🐶. He did great, and the vet staff were so kind and gentle with him!
Step by step, Miles is moving forward healthier, safer, and more loved every day. 💙
